inspiration on the go

here's a piece of a mosaic mural i pass by everyday on my commute to work at the Lexington 53rd St. station. the more i see it i really love it. i'm not sure who the artist is, i'll look that up though. anyway here's a part i really dig. the organic wavy lines and the spatial elements are very intriguing to me. i love public art.

studio

my friend Alexis Ziritt from Calavera Comics was in town recently for the MoCCA Festival and took this pic of my studio. Haha, it looks better here than the real thing. Thanks Alexis. You can see some of his work :here:

worked a little more on this over the weekend.

grossbeak

finished this last night. it's interesting to not know where the painting will end. during the process the final image is never in mind. it just sort of happens and unfolds along the way. of course with the help of sweat, sighs, rolling eyes and the like. haha

fin

the weather lately has been uninspiring and can definitely affect ones psyche. well, it's kind of a push and pull. being that it's summer i want to go out and play, but the weather has been "eh" which makes me want to veg out and intentionally stress myself with money issues and the like. i try to stay true and follow my intuition but sometimes you have to veer the path with your head and in the end you find out the sense of accomplishment is well worth it despite the size of the painting. my motivation comes from always trying to "get there" with each piece. i'm not really sure where "there" is or what it is for that matter, but i know that my intentions are to make a good image and improve myself as a painter.

grossbeak

this is one of a small series of five 11x14 's. for me, they're almost like studies. i'm enjoying the process in keeping them loose and fun. this is where things left off last night.
