ink and flattery

today i received an email from an illustration student at Mass Art who sent some pics of their new tattoo. low and behold it was one of my paintings on their arm! WHOA, right!? it thought it to be pretty damn flattering to do so. the tattoo artist did a mighty fine job at translating the image (Justin K at Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo). thank for sending Landen.

chingasos

here's the current stage of a new 48x48 i started this week. man, this one was a beast to tame. of course it doesn't look like much right now, but i had to really chop away and suck up some self doubt to get to a point where i can see some potential. for me, the early stages are quite vital. if i don't get the essential composition and shape down early it will end up just being a worked up bad painting and will show in the end. if i feel some uneasiness in the beginning i'll start over. there's a real shitty feeling when you're not excited about what you're working on. when i say excited i'm referring to being challenged and the like.
