Dots Update

i've been wanting to introduce floral elements in my work lately, so i decided to do some drawing on top of this one tonight. i sort of like keeping the drawing rough and sketchy.

making progress

i have recently learned.....well, i keep learning over and over that it isn't worth it to try and save certain elements of a painting during the process. i tend to work around those areas sometimes and it just doesn't work. the painting as a whole should be left open for possibilities, even the "good parts". the top piece is a 48x48 i started. bottom is 24x24 (you can see previous stages below).

transition

here's one of the three i posted earlier (posting on Jan 29, third image). this is the progress so far. i had a hell of a weekend painintg. nothing was working out. i persevered and now i think i'm at a better place than i was before. the pic is a little dark....eh. not sure if i like the top but it's coming along.

Round Two

This is where last nights painting session left off.

Goliath Beetle

It's here! I recently did an art trade with a friend of mine for this awesome Goliath Beetle made out of layered felt. The pink and orange are actually brighter than what the image suggests. This is just one of her many mediums she works in. I traded her for a Kingfisher bird (see earlier posting). The beetle measures 9x12. It's great having awesome artists as friends.
