Figure

I'm working on this figure for a show in Brooklyn at Rebar (rebarnyc.com) in DUMBO. This is the first time both my wife and I are in the same show . The theme is called "Woman". This is what I have down after a couple of sessions so far. The size is 30x40 and yes, acrylic. I'm submitting two small 10x10 figures as well. The opening is on May 2ND. Come out if you're in the New York area.

Orchids

Here's one of a diptych (16x20 ea.) I'm working on. I painted the Orchids last night from life. This was my first time I've ever painted them. I really got lost in the process. They're truly amazing flowers.

Studio pic

I overlapped some images of our studio in photoshop this morning. Haha, it makes our studio look huuge! Unfortunately, it's not as big as it seems and is quite cramped with storage crap and our supplies everywhere. I'm not complaining though. There are people that have way less than us so I'm grateful for what we got. You can see the jellyfish painting has undergone changes since my last couple of postings. I love keeping the process open ended for chance and possibilities. Anyway, this is our studio.

so far. one of three

I've been a bit lazy with new posts. Anyway, here's what I have going at the moment amongst several others. There haven't been drastic changes in my work, but I find myself getting more involved mentally in the process. It's a funny contradiction of being more aware and at the same time letting go. I have learned that even if it's the "wrong color or mark" as long as it's made with confidence and conviction it will show. The marks we make are a reflection of us at that moment.
