Its almost here! I'm participating in the Artist in Residence series at Sanctuary Resort in Scottsdale, AZ April 13th and 14th along with the amazing sculptor John Maisano. The event weekend is in conjunction with Beals and Abbate Fine Art. There will be dinner on the 12th (for reservations call 480-607-2300) followed by a wine reception on the 13th (open to everyone). Both John and I will be on the grounds during the weekend working live and talking about our work. I just received my April issue of Western Art Collector with a great full page ad and a two page write up on the event. If you're in the area please come by and say hello! I'll have five brand new works along with a little....surprise for those who attend the dinner!

my meditation
I recently completed this 18x18 of some Heliamphora (sun pitchers) and hummingbirds. I miss having a terrarium and have plans on making another soon. I never tried growing Heliamphora before but am anxious to try. It might be a little more difficult with the conditions in Arizona. I guess we'll see.
Speaking of Arizona, I have this Aloe (aloe karasbergensis) plant that I bought from Home Depot in the clearance section last summer. A lot of the leaves were cut back and has been sloowly growing back. It also took a hit from the couple day cold snap we had in January. I see new growth on it despite its seemingly poor condition. She's a trooper and a beautiful plant. I didn't plan on painting her yesterday but it just happened. Yesterday was a stressful one and I knew I needed to get to work in the studio. My only set plan was to start a new 36x36 head on with no drawing or composition in mind. I used a pic I took of the aloe as a departure. Something happened. It was a great experience to paint it and watch it unfold before my eyes. Its almost as if the painting was guiding me, so I just followed. This is the result from last nights session. I'm excited to see where it goes next.

hey hey hey
hello there blogesphere. I've been in the studio trying to get my marbles together. i have a lot going on this year which is a great problem to have. this year i've started to use a daily planner to keep my doings in order. it seems to work, so far. Of course my mind tends to get overwhelmed but i'm trying my best to keep the anxiety at bay. i have an event with Beals and Abbate Fine Art coming up un April at the Sanctuary Resort in Scottsdale. Its a beautiful spot. In June I have a three man show at Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City and a solo show in July at Silver Queen Fine Art in Park City, UT. Also, another solo show at Beals and Abbate in late September. Ya, just a little nervous. Five works were just completed for Lotton Gallery in Chicago as well. My fiance (Oh ya, I got engaged over the Christmas holiday. I'm truly truly blessed to be with such an awesome woman!), has been a great supporter and continually reassures me that I can totally do this and that I always come through in the end. Here's some random studio pics I took with our new camera. It was about time I stepped up my game and documented my work like a real adult.
